HDR photography is growing in popularity daily and many photographers want to try it, so I thought I would bring together some links to websites that offer free trial downloads so you can experiment.
Most photographers use what is considered the best HDR software available at the moment, called Photomatix. It is the one I use too as it is simple and works well.
You can download it here - http://www.hdrsoft.com/download.html - the trial version is fully functional but does put a watermark on the images, but at least you can see if it meets your needs.
Other possible choices can be downloaded from the sites below, but I have not tried them so can't comment on how good they are.

http://qtpfsgui.sourceforge.net/download.php - this another completely free open source program and it has a Linux version in addition to Windows and Mac versions.

Thanks for this post Doug - On a very limited budget I appreciate the research you have done. I have fancied having a go at HDR for a while now. The great thing about all the new Canon Cameras is that hopefully the prices on the now previous models will drop :-)(At present I don't have a camera that will shoot in RAW
Thanks for keeping us up to date!
